A postcard from the mid-1960s shows just about how the Prudential Center would look in 1968, with two apartment towers on the east side of the side (left in postcard), the central tower and plazas, the hotel and convention center to the west (right in postcard).

Premium Infrastructure
On a few of Crown Street’s corners, like this one at the NW with Temple Street, New Haven transportation department has made a significant investment in premium sidewalk infrastructure.  This corner is a “bulb,” that serves as a traffic calming device and provides a more generous public space for pedestrians.  The red rumble-mats are for the visually impaired.  A tree has been planted.  New traffic signal equipment has been installed.  In this photo, one of Crown Street’s window washers carries the tools of his trade.  Across the street is the Temple-George Garage (1959-1963), erected by the New Haven Parking Authority and designed by Paul Rudolph.  - Elihu
